Our Senior Cycle History and Geography students embarked on an unforgettable educational trip to Munich, combining cultural exploration, geographical discovery, and historical reflection.

The tour began with a visit to the iconic Allianz Arena, home of FC Bayern Munich, where students learned about the stadium's innovative design and its importance to German sport and culture. A guided walking tour of Munich city centre allowed students to explore the city's rich history, architecture, and vibrant public spaces while gaining insights into urban development and tourism.

One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to the fairytale-like Neuschwanstein Castle, where students examined the relationship between landscape, tourism, and cultural heritage. Students also experienced the breathtaking Zugspitze via cable car, enjoying spectacular Alpine views before exploring the glacier environment and learning about mountain geography and climate.

A particularly moving part of the trip was the visit to Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. Students reflected on the horrors of the Holocaust and deepened their understanding of the importance of remembrance, human rights, and historical responsibility.

The final major stop was the fascinating BMW Museum, where students explored the history of engineering, innovation, and Germany's role as a global leader in manufacturing and technology.

Throughout the trip, students demonstrated excellent behaviour, curiosity, and enthusiasm. The experience brought classroom learning to life and provided valuable opportunities to engage with history and geography in real-world settings. The memories and lessons gained from this trip will remain with our students for years to come.
